Hendrix Genetics Academy III

Two years ago we welcomed 100 invitees. Together we explored ways in “Accelerating the future”. We wanted to supply solutions faster for the growing world population.

The professional food supply chain has pros and cons. Are the cost of consistency and convenience considered too high for our society? Start today on delivering: “Supplying Solutions from Science to Society”. The theme of the third Hendrix Genetics Academy.

The societal challenges

The food system has changed. From family food production and home food preservation to the modern system of today. With the rising urbanization, citizens are not familiar with the food they eat. Nor to the current way of agricultural production and food manufacturing. This growing disconnect is a challenge. Consumer education and adaptation holds a key here.

The future of science

At present, research and progress in animal genetics and genomics show significant developments. It demonstrates an immense potential for an increased production across the globe. Different technical applications have allowed production quantities to meet the needs of society. There is a promising potential of ongoing technological advancements to enhance even further. Increasing the health and wellness of the growing global population and our animals.

At the Hendrix Genetics Academy we discuss the fine balance in breeding. Explore the areas where genetics and genomics can contribute to ‘responsible innovation’. Looking for ways to make a positive difference to agricultural sustainability. Remember, the change to today’s modern production-to-consumption food system took less than a century. The system is capable of feeding almost seven billion people. What more is there to come?
