Social Entrepreneurship

At Hendrix Genetics, sustainability is built with people in mind. Our Social Entrepreneurship pillar reflects our belief that responsible business goes hand in hand with strong communities, fair partnerships, and meaningful opportunities to grow.

By investing in employee well-being, promoting responsible practices across our value chain, and supporting food security worldwide, we aim to create positive impact where it matters most, inside our organization beyond.

Topic I – Employee Well‑Being

Our people drive our performance, our innovation, and our impact. That is why we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive workplaces where everyone feels respected and able to thrive.

How we act

  • Our Human Rights Policy, aligned with international standards (UN, ILO, OECD), applies across all operations and clearly prohibits forced labor, child labor, discrimination, violence, and harassment.
  • Employees have access to secure and confidential reporting channels, including an Ethical Alert Portal, supported by a strict non‑retaliation policy.
  • Key focus areas include Occupational Health & Safety, inclusion and belonging, skills development, and preventing violence and harassment at work.

We listen closely to our people through regular Employee Engagement Surveys, turning feedback into concrete actions at global and local levels. Through training, leadership programs, and continuous learning, we invest in long‑term employability, well-being, and meaningful career paths.

Topic II – Sustainability in the Value Chain

Our responsibility does not stop at our own operations. We work with suppliers and partners to promote ethical conduct, transparency, and continuous improvement throughout our value chain.

Our approach includes

  • Strengthening Environmental, Social, and Governance performance across our supplier base.
  • A structured, risk‑based supplier sustainability approach introduced in 2025, supported by an Ethics Charter.
  • Supplier assessments focused on key risk areas such as human rights, health and safety, governance, environment, and animal welfare.

Rather than pass‑or‑fail judgments, our approach emphasizes dialogue, progress, and long‑term partnerships. This helps reduce risk, build trust, and extend positive impact far beyond our direct footprint.

Topic III – Community Support and Food Security

Through genetics, partnerships, and local engagement, we contribute to stronger livelihoods and improved food security, particularly in underserved regions.

Our efforts focus on

  • Expanding access to high‑quality, affordable genetics for smallholder farmers.
  • Supporting resilient poultry value chains in Africa through the SAPPSA program, improving nutrition, income generation, and opportunities for women‑led businesses.
  • Advancing sustainable aquaculture through initiatives such as AquaGene Vietnam, combining genetics, innovation, and partnerships.
  • Long‑standing collaborations like Granja Roblealto in Costa Rica, where agriculture directly supports education, nutrition, and social programs.

By building partnerships rooted in trust and shared goals, we help strengthen local economies and support more inclusive, resilient food systems.
