Supporting the innovative laying hen farm of Kipster

Kipster, a new Dutch company, is set to build an innovative laying hen house. Hendrix Genetics teams up with the four entrepreneurs of Kipster. It will be the most modern laying hen farm in the world, according to the initiators. Hendrix Genetics supports Kipster and delivers the best suited laying hens for this innovative plan. The eggs will be sold directly to Lidl, one of the major retailers in Europe.

Building the farm with innovation in mind

The construction of the first farm starts in April this year. The grand opening is planned for September 2017. The innovative laying hen farm will have a translucent courtyard, with night-time aviary housing on both sides. The two outsides border the edge of a forest and are screened off by a windbreak mesh.

Environmentally friendly laying hens system

The environmentally friendly farm is well suited for the welfare of the birds as well as the staff working in the facility. The first flock of laying hens will arrive on September 22. The eggs will be sold directly to Lidl, one of the major retailers in Europe. Kipster will produce free-range eggs and its farming system has been awarded the maximum of three stars under the ‘Beter Leven’ quality mark of The Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals.

A partner of Kipster

Hendrix Genetics is a partner of Kipster. We deliver hens to farms using this innovative concept. The first 24,000 laying hens to inhabit the innovative farm have a docile character, making them highly suited to this innovative system. These laying hens produce large amounts of eggs with an excellent shell quality. The egg weight is very consistent and with minimal increases by the end of the active laying period.

“We breed for balanced laying hens that produce top quality eggs. Meaning stronger- and happier laying hens with a prolonged life. Giving our customers, like Kipster and Lidl, a more sustainable production cycle in total.
